![]() Enlarge picture | At the CeBIT trade fair, Kaba will present its innovative Kaba CardLink™ concept as a highlight in the access control sector, which will link the standalone world to the online world. In the past, the CeBIT's focus was on electronic Access Control solutions. The new Kaba concept now supplements the wire-based online access control with wireless mechatronic offline solutions, locking cylinders and fittings. Over the last few years, mechanical locking systems in areas with relatively unspecific security requirements have been increasingly replaced with mechatronic or digital standalone solutions. Despite their many advantages, these systems have been operated mostly as isolated solutions. The innovative CardLink™ concept is now offering for the first time an integral solution in this area. The Kaba concept stands for the data exchange between access control points via the RFID identification medium (LEGIC identification medium, for example badge, key chain). The personal data and access authorizations are on the LEGIG medium, which can also be used for other applications such as time recording, biometrics, electronic purse, etc. Thus, comprehensive access management becomes a reality for the customer, independently of whether the system periphery is wired (online) or installed wireless (standalone) in the building. At the CeBIT in Hannover, Kaba will present three versions: the Kaba elolegic locking system containing components with CardLink™ capability, online access control containing components with CardLink™ capability in connection with various software partner solutions and process-oriented access control including Kaba exos 9300 CardLink™. In the access control solution by means of the Kaba exos 9300 system, online and CardLink™ standalone components, such as digital cylinders, Kaba elolegic c–lever fittings readers or a cabinet lock are configured in the same user interface. Thus, data input is only required once. Independently of the type of access points, daily work such as adding a new employee, changing the access authorization, managing forgotten or lost badges, issuing visitor cards etc. can be completed in one processing step. No more on-site reprogramming of the standalone components is required. Thanks to the modern CardLink™ update mechanism, the users will receive their changed access rights simply and quickly on an online reader, for example B-Net 93 20, and carry them on their personal identification medium to the CardLink™ standalone components. The integrated CardLink™ concept guarantees consistent data also for a longer period of time. The system administrator always keeps track of all security-relevant data such as personal data, access rights, lost badges, black lists, access data, logbooks, system changes, etc. Thanks to the unique CardLink™ validation mechanism, lost or unauthorized media are locked immediately not only in the online system but also in the standalone components. In this way, CardLink™ considerably increases the security level of standalone access points. For each access point, the user has free choice: either the flexibility and security of an online solution or the wireless and thus quick and lower-cost installation of a standalone version. No matter which solution is selected, each access point is integrated seamlessly in the Kaba exos 9300 CardLink™. The CardLink™ concept is open to any extensions, thus protecting the investment for years to come. |
